CLEM SNIDE EMBARK ON 2010 TOUR

“THE MEAT OF LIFE”
AVAILABLE NOW!

March 3, 2010 Santa Monica, CA:  Clem Snide, which has just returned with a new album, The Meat of Life, announce the first leg of its 2010 U.S. tour.  The band will hit the road with supporting act The Heligoats beginning May 12th in Ft. Wayne, Indiana and head west winding up in Nashville, TN on May 28.  East Coast dates are TBS.  The new album, which NPR describes as “as thought provoking as it is engagingly catchy,” is the follow-up to Hungry Bird.  Now consisting of the core trio of Barzelay, Brendan Fitzpatrick (bass, organ) and Ben Martin (drums, percussion), Clem Snide is a truly cohesive musical entity and the new album reflects it. Produced by Clem Snide and Mark Nevers,   The Meat of Life was released on February 23rd  on 429 Records.

The Meat of Life further showcases the wry, intimate, sometimes angst-filled observations of Eef Barzelay.  As the weighty title would suggest, there is a depth of lyrical subject matter that Barzelay deftly presents alongside his streamlined band.  With the help of additional musicians Tony Crow (piano, organ), Roy Agee (trombones) and Carole Rabinowitz (cello), Clem Snide has created an intriguing and oftentimes sublime musical palette.  “Overall, Clem Snide has created a pretty Eef-ing good album,” notes Glide Magazine.

In addition to his busy schedule with Clem Snide, Barzelay has continued to create music for distinguished film directors with several notable scores completed and in the works.  Director Jeffrey Blitz (“Rocket Science”) has again tapped Barzelay for the music to his new documentary “Lucky” which premiered at the 2010 Sundance Film Festival in January.  Barzelay’s recently provided the music for “The Yellow Handkerchief” directed by Udayan Prasad. The film stars Kristen Stewart, William Hurt and Maria Bello and opened in theatres February 26th .
