DVD & DVD AUDIO 5.1 SET FOR RELEASE ON SLG RECORDS
“Joan Armatrading Live: All The Way From America”
In Stores July 13
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Santa Monica, CA –For the
first time in her brilliant 30 year career, Joan Armatrading
will release both a live recording on CD and a filmed
concert on DVD—“Joan Armatrading Live: All
The Way From America”. SLG Records is proud to
announce the release of the CD and the DVD that captured
the best and most inspiring moments from her long-awaited
2003 “Lover’s Speak” World Tour. Both
releases will feature the beloved singer/songwriter’s
greatest hits as well as new favorites and special bonus
tracks. Produced by Armatrading,, the concert footage
was edited with the help of Apple’s “Final
Cut” software, (this is the first time an artist
has produced an entire commercial release using only
the “Final Cut” program and the results
are stunning.). The concert will be released on three
formats—CD, DVD and DVD Audio 5.1. Joan Armatrading
Live: All The Way From America” is in stores July
13.
Filmed and recorded entirely at the Lillian Fontaine
Theatre in Saratoga, California, Joan Armatrading Live
contains her greatest hits. The CD track listing is
as follows: “Down To Zero,” “All The
Way From America,” “Prove Yourself,”
“Physical Pain,” “Tender Trap,”
“The Weakness In Me,” “Let’s
Talk About Us,” “Join The Boys,” “Save
Me,” “Love And Affection,” “Lover’s
Speak,” “Rosie,” “Kissin’
And A Huggin,’” “Me, Myself And I,”
“Willow,” and “Blessed.”
The DVD-Video contains all of the above as well as “You
Made Your Bed,” “Everyday Boy,” “Crazy
For You,” “Love Bug,” “Mama
Mercy,” and the bonus performances “Bottom
To The Top” (a classic Armatrading live moment),
along with the poignant self-produced video for “In
These Times” written before the 9/11 catastrophe,
but capturing the sentiment with uncanny insight and
wisdom.
Says Steve Vining, President of the Savoy Label Group,
“Joan is an artist who only performs or sings,
when she has something truly creative and thought provoking
to say, so to be able to capture those moments forever
with today’s technology is not only astonishing,
but long over-due.”
Before Tracy Chapman, Sarah McLachlan or Jewel there
was the pioneering Armatrading—without a doubt,
one of the most accomplished female singer/songwriters
of our time. Born in the West Indies on the Island of
St. Kitts and relocating to England, Armatrading has
nurtured one of the most lauded careers in pop music.
From the first smash single “Love and Affection”
released in the mid-70’s, the accolades have not
stopped over the course of 17 albums. Armatrading has
performed with some of the most talented and renowned
musicians, given command performances for world leaders,
garnered countless artistic awards and has earned a
slew of honorary and self-earned degrees.
