| A remarkable vocalist, musician and songwriter influenced by the Beatles and Northern Soul, Paul Carrack is back and ready for his reintroduction to U.S. listeners who already know him well not only by his solo work (2003’s “It Ain’t Over”), but by his many hits with the band Ace, Mike & The Mechanics and Squeeze. On May 5th, 429 Records will release I KNOW THAT NAME-- an all new collection of songs written and performed by one of the UK’s finest talents. On this, Carrack’s fourteenth album overall, he’s produced an effortlessly soulful suite of 12 new compositions, most of which he played every instrument except for the horns. Executive produced by Dave Robinson (founder of the legendary Stiff Records label), Carrack is also joined by guests Timothy B. Schmit and Don Henley of The Eagles on “I Don’t Want To Hear It Any More” (which he wrote with fellow Squeeze member Chris Difford). First single to radio is the funky groove showcase “No Doubt About It” (going for adds at AC and Triple A radio April 21st). In addition to releasing I KNOW THAT NAME on May 5th, 429 Records will re-release Carrack’s 2003 label debut, IT AIN’T OVER.
He’s had a long and illustrious career spanning many years and distinguished by the respect he’s garnered from fellow musicians, producers and the listening public. Best known for his work with the band Ace (he sang lead on the worldwide smash hit “How Long …has this been going on”), as one of the lead vocalists for Mike & The Mechanics (singing lead on their smash hits “Silent Running” and “The Living Years”) and as a member of Squeeze (he sang lead vocals on their biggest hit “Tempted”), Carrack guested on over 60 albums with artists as diverse as Nick Lowe, Ringo Starr, Elton John, Roxy Music, John Hiatt, Roger Waters, The Smiths and The Pretenders! In addition to performing, Carrack has lent his songwriting talent to blockbuster projects by artists such as The Eagles, Diana Ross and Michael McDonald. |
