"It's a crime that The Roches aren't more well known because pop these days needs more humor, especially subtle humor. It has been a while since this trio of sisters, who have more than 20 years of recording experience under their collective belts in various configurations, have released a hit. The Roches have built a career on bringing quaint melodies to acoustic dalliances with the mirth that similar artists seem to lack. It would be a disservice to The Roches music to bring images of Birkenstocks and earth shoes into this conversation, but I'll just let you know I feel tempted. I'll admit, my lifetime of heavy rock, smarmy rap and crackpot pop appreciation has made listening to the Roches a little bit of an exercise in hand-slapping patience, but I am happy to report that I dug it after a while. Songs like "Moonswept" "Us Little Kids" and "Piggy Mask" are joyful in their quietude, fun without being preachy and short without being shoddy."
