TONI CHILDS MAKES A TRIUMPHANT RETURN WITH
NEW RECORDING “KEEP THE FAITH”

Long-Awaited Album Recorded After Singer’s Successful Battle
Overcoming “Grave’s Disease”

“Keep The Faith” in Stores January 2009 on 429 Records

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:  It’s been exactly twenty years since singer/songwriter Toni Childs first burst onto the charts in 1988 with her debut single “Don’t Walk Away” from her Grammy-nominated album “Union” and officially entered the collective pop-rock consciousness.  The magnetic singer known for her uniquely resonant voice and irrepressible charisma made quite an impression with several collections of songs distinguished by lush, driving melodies and emotionally honest lyrics.   The singer’s acclaimed career was brought to a halt when she was diagnosed with the debilitating auto-immune disorder, Graves Disease in 1997.   Childs retired to the island of Kauai and quietly overcame her affliction with a self-healing regimen of holistic living, self-awareness and a newfound self-love.  With the release of “KEEP THE FAITH” in January of 2009, Toni Childs has made a triumphant return to her first love—making heartfelt, inspiring and expressive music. “KEEP THE FAITH” will be released in January of 2009 on 429 Records.

With “KEEP THE FAITH,” Childs re-approached producers David Tickle and David Ricketts, the creative team behind the success of her hit debut album “Union.”  Recorded primarily in Rickett’s studio in Kauai, the sound is a departure from the multi-layered drum loops, sequencing patterns and exotica of previous recordings.  Childs discovered the joy of writing songs on the acoustic guitar and by comparison, the songs on “KEEP THE FAITH” are much more stripped down with an emphasis on bluesy grooves and harder driving rock rave-ups.  The title track establishes the tone of the album with it’s gritty, simple guitar-based groove and lyrics that implore the subject to persevere through adversity and stay hopeful through dark circumstances.

Says Childs:  “The title track was inspired by a friend who was going through a difficult custody battle and he had to look at the world differently.  His trials made me think of my own thoughts when the world seems to be coming apart.  What started as a song written for someone I care about became a really important song for myself.”

“KEEP THE FAITH” is a life-affirming work celebrating perseverance in all things.  In 2004, Childs won an Emmy Award for the song “Because You’re Beautiful” which was originally featured in the documentary “Until The Violence Stops” by Eve Ensler (The Vagina Monologues).  It appears on “KEEP THE FAITH” along with other songs written both before and after her illness.  Complete track listing:
