Top 10 Best Bass Bluetooth Speakers To Buy In 2023 Reviews

1 JBL Boombox Portable Bluetooth Waterproof Speaker

The JBL Boombox tops this list both in terms of quality and price. It is among the best bass Bluetooth speakers you can buy and delivers earth-shattering performance. But you get this at a price, and it’s quite a high price, to be honest.

This extremely powerful Bluetooth speaker is built like a tank and comes with full waterproof construction (IPX7) that is designed to protect the speaker from the outdoor elements.

It features a massive 20,000mAh power battery that can even be used to charge other devices with a USB input cable. That should be enough power to deliver continuous music for up to 24 hours on a single charge.

The JBL Boombox speaker features four active transducers as well as two JBL bass radiators. These deliver loads of volume with crystal clear sound quality.

The sound is clear and very pure, with monstrous deep bass and a detailed midrange. Since this review is all about the bass, the Boombox sounds rich and full. It also doesn’t muddy up the midrange frequencies, which is excellent.

The JBL Boombox speaker has quality rubbery material around the speaker enclosures and comes with a grip handle for easy portability. The speaker is a little on the large and heavy side but has a robust design, that looks sleek and eye-catching.

The wireless Bluetooth connectivity works like a charm, so streaming your favorite tunes directly from your smartphone should cause any issues.

It also features JBL Connect+, which allows you to amplify your listening experience by wirelessly connecting a staggering number of JBL Connect+ enabled speakers together. More than a 100! So if you need even more volume, just get more speakers and put them everywhere.

Music genres which are Bass-heavy, such as EDM, rock or hip-hop sounded exceptional on the JBL Boombox, and it has enough volume and battery life to keep everyone grooving all through the night.

It’s basically a portable subwoofer and a speaker built into a single unit, but with a deeper and more powerful reproduction. It’s perfect for using outdoors or at poolside parties. This all makes it one of the best bass Bluetooth speakers available and is definitely recommend for bass lovers.

JBL Boombox Portable Bluetooth Waterproof Speaker

Our rating:4.5 out of 5 stars (4.5 / 5)

Pros
  • Excellent sound quality.
  • Looks great.
  • Very long battery life.
  • Waterproof.
Cons
  • Expensive.
  • You can get equal, if not better bass response from far cheaper speakers.

2 JBL Xtreme Portable Wireless Bluetooth Speaker

The mammoth JBL Xtreme comes with dual external passive radiators on both sides of the unit. These deliver some of the deepest and punchiest bass you’ll hear anywhere and is very close to the JBL Boombox we’ve just covered, but for a lot less money.

The sound quality is excellent, as you would expect from JBL. With crisp treble, smooth midrange and deep and punchy bass. They are more than loud enough to keep most listeners happy and have a built-in battery that allows you to listen to great music for up to 15 hours.

The battery is charged using dual USB ports and like it’s bigger brother, the JBL Xtreme, can be used as a power bank to power your smartphone and other devices.

On the subject of smartphones, you can connect three wirelessly to this JBL at the same time. So you won’t only have one DJ at your next party, you can have three!

Again like it’s bigger brother, it’s also built like a tank. But as opposed to being waterproof, it features a durable splash-proof design. So it’s resistant to water and rain, and can survive direct contact with water, although it should not be fully immersed. If you need full waterproofing, you’d be better off spending more and getting the JBL Boombox or one of the other speakers reviewed.

It shines in the loudness and clarity of the sound it produces. The bass hits hard but does not muddy up the midrange, therefore creating a high-quality balanced sound.

You can also pair two JBL Xtremes together for a nice, wide stereo sound, which can bring even more life to your next poolside party or backyard barbeque.

It has an extremely durable and rugged design. The speaker is covered in a wire-type cloth mesh which is reinforced by rubber surrounds that keep the speaker intact. The splashproof fabric comes in a choice of colors – black, blue or red.

You can even use it to answer your calls. Just use the built-in microphone to take calls on the go with a touch of a button. And you’ll hear everything in crystal clear detail because of the speaker’s noise and echo canceling abilities.

If you are looking for one of the best bass Bluetooth speakers that will deliver superb sound performance, the JBL Xtreme comes highly recommended.

JBL Xtreme Portable Wireless Bluetooth Speaker

Our rating:4.2 out of 5 stars (4.2 / 5)

Pros
Cons
  • Old firmware sounds a little digital, check your firmware and update if necessary. New firmware offers a much better sound.
  • Lots of knock-offs on the market, make sure you are buying a genuine JBL model.

3 Bose SoundLink Revolve Portable Bluetooth 360 Speaker

Bose’s SoundLink Revolve is another of the best bass Bluetooth speakers available. It delivers a deep, immersive sound with full 360-degree coverage. Put it in the center of a room to give everyone the same sonic experience, or put it near a wall and let the sound radiate and reflect around the room.

The unique design allows instruments and vocals to become naturally separated and then spread across the immersive soundstage. Crafted with a sleek aluminum body, it is durable and water resistant to IPX4, and comes with an excellent battery life allowing you to wallow in its sound for up to 12 hours.

It supports wireless pairing with all your mobile devices from voice prompts and allows you to take calls or access Siri, Google Now, etc. with the in-built microphone. If the sound isn’t immersive enough, you can also pair two speakers together for larger sound coverage with more volume.

The Bose SoundLink delivers a lot more sound than you would expect, from looking at its smallish compact frame. It easily fills the entire space with deep quality bass frequencies. The 360-degree design allows the sound to spread evenly with detail and clarity.

It’s a beautifully designed speaker and blends in with modern home interior decor, either in its stylish silver-grey or black color options. It has a high-quality feel, and the aluminum finish gives it an elegant appearance. It’s also relatively compact and lightweight, so you can easily take it anywhere.

The battery life is well above average and can last up to 12 hours on a single charge. It’s also very easy to connect to either one or two mobile devices with the Bose Connect App. The speaker also charges reasonably quickly using the included micro USB.

The Bose Connect App makes wireless pairing a breeze by using voice prompt functionality. It can also be used to pair two individual SoundLink Revolve speakers, for a wider stereo sound that’s great for larger barbeques and parties.

If your perfect Bluetooth speaker has 360-degree immersive surround sound, with great low bass, the Bose SoundLink could well be the one you’re looking for.

4 Marshall Kilburn Portable Bluetooth Speaker

Where would music be without Marshall? Nowhere is the answer. The brand has powered rock and roll, with its range of phenomenal guitar amplifiers since the sixties.

The Marshall Kilburn is part of that heritage and provides the companies trademark looks and style in a classy Bluetooth speaker.

The Kilburn features two 3/4” dome tweeters and a single 4” woofer giving the speaker enhanced stereo sound performance. This produces a well-balanced refined sound with crystal clear midrange and extended highs.

But what about the all-important bass?

It’s not as punchy in the low end as the JBL Xtreme or the UE Boom 2. That said, it does deliver the solid deep lows you’d expect from a high-end Bluetooth speaker.

The sound signature of the Kilburn is V-shaped, in that it has an emphasis on the highs and lower-midrange frequencies. But this can be easily changed in the old-school fashion, with the individual bass and treble controls on the top of the unit.

We must, however, mention that since the speaker only has a single woofer, the bass sound is more boomy than tight. The beats are there, but the bass fades off at frequency ranges lower than 100 Hz, giving the bass a loose feel with a lack of punch.

The rechargeable battery delivers up to an incredible 20 hours of rocking Marshall tunes (or whatever music you prefer?) on a single charge.

The Kilburn has a classy, truly vintage design and feel, as only Marshal can deliver. The sound quality is excellent, and it’s incredibly well built.

To summarize, the attention to detail the company has put into this speaker is quite unlike most Bluetooth speakers and that alone makes it a great choice for any decerning buyer.

Marshall Kilburn Portable Bluetooth Speaker

Our rating:4.4 out of 5 stars (4.4 / 5)

Pros
  • Classic Marshall looks and styling.
  • Incredible attention to detail.
  • The companies heritage.
Cons
  • Expensive.
  • Issues with reduced battery life after 5-6 months.
  • Warranty is void if you change the battery.

5 OontZ Angle 3XL ULTRA Portable Bluetooth Speaker

The OontZ Angle 3XL from Cambridge SoundWorks is a powerful Bluetooth speaker that delivers bass you can feel. This makes it one of the best bass Bluetooth speakers currently available and is better than its predecessor. In fact, it provides 20% more volume and much deeper bass response than the original.

This Bluetooth speaker features two large 2.75” precision drivers delivering 24 Watts RMS of pure tone and bassiness, along with two custom 13mm tweeters which have been designed to provide a precise high end with distinct mids.

The OontZ Angle 3XL Ultra also features three passive bass radiators – one is rear facing behind its own grille, and the other two are side facing which can actually be seen pushing the bass. These improve how the bass is dispersed in open spaces.

Like most of the speakers covered, the OontZ Angle 3XL has a dual pairing feature, which allows another unit to be connected to create a wider soundstage and improved bass response.

It’s a beautifully crafted speaker which looks great with its stylish angular design and durable rubberized edge. It features an IPX5 rated water-resistant exterior that protects the speaker from splashes and light rain. Also included, is a USB power bank so you can use the OontZ Angle 3XL to charge your iPhone or other mobile devices.

When played at 70% volume the speaker has a battery life of up to 8 hours. It also features a built-in mic that can be used to take and make phone calls. And has an impressive maximum Bluetooth range of up to 100 feet.

While the OontZ Angle 3XL doesn’t have the low-end punch of the JBL Boombox or UE Megaboom, it has a lot more than you would find on your average Bluetooth speaker and delivers a solid sound performance.

OontZ Angle 3XL ULTRA Portable Bluetooth Speaker

Our rating:4.6 out of 5 stars (4.6 / 5)

Pros
  • Sounds good.
  • Interesting design and look.
Cons
  • Many buyers say that although louder, it isn’t as good as the previous model.
  • Can not be used for a stereo setup with the older model.

The speaker also features unique indoor and outdoor modes which can be used to enhance the bass output or to emphasize the highs depending on where you’re listening to it.

It has an IPX4 water-resistance rating, which protects it from odd splashes of water and exposure to light rain. And comes with a built-in 4000mAh battery that can deliver your favorite tunes for up to 10 hours on a single charge.

The TrebLab HD55 works with any Bluetooth-compatible device and allows you to play music directly from Spotify, Google Play and other apps. It also features a built-in microphone for you to take hands-free calls anytime, anywhere.

7 Ultimate Ears BOOM 2 BrainFreeze Wireless Mobile Bluetooth Speaker

The UE Boom 2 is a refined Bluetooth speaker with a superb, crystal clear sound. The bass performance is deep, tight and punchy and close to the JBL’s we started off with. It produces a true 360 degree sound due to its circular design and is built for portability with dimensions of 2.6” x 2.6” x 7”.

The was specially designed to go anywhere – to get wet, muddy, and beat up. It is shockproof and has an IPX7 rating, which makes it waterproof, not water resistant. This means that you can actually immerse it in water up to a depth of one meter for 30 minutes.

Regarding battery life, you should get up to 15 hours out of it. The Bluetooth range is the standard 100 feet as is usual on most of the speakers in this review.

The sound performance is excellent, producing a high-quality balanced sound.

When compared to the JBL speakers, the UE Boom 2 delivers exceptional performance with much more refined highs than the JBL, while the bass is tight and punchy. But that said, the JBL Xtreme does produce more low-end output if you’re looking for something seriously heavy-duty.

The UE Boom 2 also comes with a handy App that can be used to adjust the EQ settings according to your own preferences.

The main advantage the UE Boom 2 has over the JBL is its compact size. While both the JBL Xtreme and Boombox speakers are massive, the UE Boom 2 is very portable and can easily be carried in one hand.

It has a waterproof fabric mesh around the drivers, as well as a layer of rubber around the speaker adding to the durable appearance.

The Ultimate Ears PartyUp feature gives you the option of wirelessly connecting to up to 50 separate UE speakers. This allows you to take the party to anywhere you can imagine – beaches, caves, lakes, mountains, islands, rooftops – the choice is yours.

If you are looking for a speaker in a more compact and portable package, the UE Boom is easily one of the best, if not the best bass Bluetooth speakers you can get.

Ultimate Ears BOOM 2 BrainFreeze Wireless Mobile Bluetooth Speaker

Our rating:4.3 out of 5 stars (4.3 / 5)

Pros
  • Withstands brutal punishment, so you can take it anywhere.
  • Fully waterproof.
  • Doesn’t distort at high volumes.
Cons
  • Battery life isn’t good, especially after being repeatedly re-charged over long periods.
  • Doesn’t play while it’s charging.
  • Some users report reliability issues.

8 DOSS DS-1685 Sound Box XL 32W

The DOSS Soundbox XL uses enhanced 20W acoustic drivers with DSP technology, to deliver a nice balanced sonic performance. It also features a 12W subwoofer and two passive bass radiators, which enhance the low-frequency ranges and create an impactful bass response with very little distortion.

It is compatible with all Bluetooth enabled devices. But, also supports auxiliary inputs and unusually, TF cards, just in case your Bluetooth is down for whatever reason.

The built-in 2200mAh rechargeable battery delivers up to 10 hours of charge at 50% volume and recharges in about four hours.

The sound performance of the Soundbox XL is good, it definitely punches above its weight, and the sound quality is similar to much more expensive speakers. The low end in particular hits hard and the bass frequencies go down to as low as 20 Hz, so you can really hear and feel the bass.

When compared to the JBL Xtreme, the bass is more controlled and deep on the DOSS but doesn’t sound as big as on the Xtreme. The highs and midrange are very clear and well-defined, with nicely detailed separation.

The DOSS Soundbox XL has a black plastic exterior that feels durable and nice to the touch. The speaker itself is compact and easy to carry around or store in a backpack.

DOSS DS-1685 Sound Box XL 32W

Our rating:4.3 out of 5 stars (4.3 / 5)

Pros
  • Compatible with TF cards.

  • Some mains adaptor issues, so it’s better to charge it with USB.
  • Some reliability problems.

9 AOMAIS Life 30W Bluetooth Speakers

The two things that set the Aomais Life apart from most of the best bass Bluetooth speakers in this review are the fact that it’s far cheaper than most and a little bit louder than some. It’s unusual to get more volume for less money, but this eco-friendly bamboo fronted speaker manages it nicely.

The sound quality and low-end output of the Aomais Life is outstanding considering it’s such an affordable compact speaker. The bass is good and is enhanced by the passive bass radiator at the back of the unit.

It comes with a sleek bamboo and cotton design with two drivers at the front along with a passive radiator to produce 30W of sound performance and low bass. And features 3 EQ modes – classic, party and surround – so the speaker can be used to enhance whatever music you feel like listening to.

Featuring a long-lasting lithium-ion battery, that provides up to 10 hours of use per charge and also doubles as a power bank, for other mobile devices. Two speakers can also be paired together, to create 60 watts of stereo sound, if needed for bigger parties.

The sound is smooth, crisp and detailed without being harsh or compressed. Stereo separation is excellent, with a good distinction between the channels. It does, however, lack low bass frequencies because it has a roll off below 80 Hz, so if you want seriously low sub bass, then you’re better of with one of our other choices.

It is Bluetooth 4.2, not 4.0 as some of the other speakers reviewed. This allows for better compatibility with more devices. It also ensures the signal connection between the Aomais Life and the transmitting device is more stable.

The Aomais Life looks great with its eco-friendly bamboo design that blends in nicely with modern interior décor. But even though it looks good, it isn’t suitable for outdoor use, so these speakers are best kept indoors.

AOMAIS Life 30W Bluetooth Speakers

Our rating:4.3 out of 5 stars (4.3 / 5)

Pros
  • Bluetooth 4.2 giving greater compatibility and enhanced signal stability.
  • A great price.
Cons
  • Lacks sub-bass frequencies.
  • Not designed for outdoor use.
  • Many users have reported charging issues out of the box.
  • Some reliability problems.

Best Bass Bluetooth Speakers Buyers Guide

There are many factors to take into consideration before buying one of the Top 10 best bass Bluetooth speakers. These include:

Check the IP rating, to see if it is splash proof, waterproof or neither. Depending on your intended use, you may not need a fully waterproof speaker, so a more affordable speaker designed for indoor use only, will be perfect. This is covered in more detail later in this review.

For outdoor use and taking from place to place, go for rugged speakers because of their durability. If your using them at home and will hardly ever move them, go for something more stylish but less durable.

A ridiculous thing to say, but it is worth checking if possible, that the speaker you’re thinking of buying, is compatible with the device you intend to use it with. If you can’t find the information on the internet, it’s best to look for in-compatibility issues and see if your device is mentioned.

Water Resistance Rating

As you’ve noticed, all the speakers featured have specific ratings concerning their resistance to water. We’ll try and keep this as simple as possible, but basically, the differences are.

IPX4 is resistance to having water sprayed on the unit for two 5 minute periods in two directions.

IPX5 is resistance to having water splashed on the unit from all directions for 10 minutes.

IP67 – The ‘6’ relates to no penetration of dust over an eight hour period, and the ‘7’ relates to being waterproof and is able to be immersed in water up to 1 meter for 30 minutes.

IPX7 is waterproof and is able to be immersed in water up to 1 meter for 30 minutes

How to take care of your Battery

The biggest complaint by far by users of all mobile products, be they portable Bluetooth speakers, smartphones or anything else is about battery life.

But most people don’t understand that you actually have to take care of your batteries. If you do, they will last a lot longer and be far more efficient. We are not going to go into this in great detail but here are some things that you can do to make your battery last a lot longer.

It is recommended that the best way to charge any rechargeable battery is to let it die completely, then charge it 100%. Do not use it during the charging process if possible, or even check how much it has charged, just leave it be. This will give you the longest duration per charge over the longest period.

best bass bluetooth speakers

Obviously, this is not always possible, no one is going to miss an urgent call because of their phone charging habits. And doing this occasionally has no long term effects on your battery. But try and do the complete empty to full recharge cycle as often as possible.

People also need to remember that we are talking about batteries here and they deteriorate with use, especially the constant use that they are subjected to with modern technology.

So accept that a year after you bought something, that the battery life will have deteriorated a little, and a little more the year after. And that eventually you will have to buy another battery and start the whole process again.

So, what are the Best Bass Bluetooth Speakers for you?

We’ve gathered together what we think are the Top 10 best bass Bluetooth Speakers currently on the market. They are all excellent choices, and any of them would more than satisfy most buyers.

Regarding many features, as you may have noticed, they are quite similar. But, what sets them apart are certain features, the build quality, and how they sound. The more expensive models reviewed understandably sound better than the cheaper ones, but some not by that much.

Of course, there has to be a winner, and for this review that is the…

JBL Xtreme

It won because it offers the best over-all features for the price. It’s a mid-priced Bluetooth speaker, but we loved the sound. We also liked the way it looks, and it’s functionality.

Regarding the bass end, it isn’t as powerful as the JBL Boombox in terms of sheer low-end frequencies, but it does produce a more detailed and balanced bass end, that we personally preferred.

Honorable mentions also go to the Bose’s SoundLink Revolve and Ultimate ears Boom 2 for incredible sound quality, especially in the low-end. The Marshall Kilburn for rock n’ Roll styling. And the Aomais Life for fantastic value for money.

Have fun choosing the best bass Bluetooth speakers and look forward to listening to all your favorite songs on them indoors and out!
