1 1MORE Triple Driver In-Ear Earphones Hi-Res Headphones – Gold

We’ll start this review with the world’s first THX accredited headphones, – the Triple Driver earbuds from 1More. Which are one of the least expensive in this review.

These sound great, and music lovers will appreciate the vibrant vocals and clear instrumental audio they produce, combined with a remarkably balanced sound.

They are driven by one bass driver, which consists of a “PET + aerospace metal layer + PET” design, this is a double-tweeter unit which is protected by durable silicon covers, as well as, two metal resonant cavities.

These combine to produce a superb sound with no distortion and excellent high fidelity reproduction for nicely layered instrumental audio.

But what about the all-important bass?

These earbuds have plenty of bass, with enough impact and extension to keep the majority of bassheads very happy. They are great for bass heavy genres such as Hip-Hop, EDM and Urban. As well as for, pop, blues, or even classical.

And for even more reassurance of quality, they were tuned by a Grammy Award Winning Sound Engineer. The company collaborated with the internationally acclaimed mixer, producer, and sound engineer Luca Bignardi in order to perfect the final tuning. Between them, they have made the earbuds deliver as close to a precise representation of your favorite artist’s intended sound as is possible.

They feature a comfortable ergonomic design. Which has been created by using oblique angled ear fittings which naturally match your ear canals. Nine different sets of ear tip sizes are included with every pair of earbuds, and they ensure a proper fit for all. They not only make the earbuds far more comfortable to wear but also much less likely to fall out.

They feature specially designed drivers which produce a very powerful sound for the low price. The drivers high-energy neodymium magnets deliver the deep, powerful bass you’re looking for and perfectly complements modern music genres.

They also have a Bass Duct, which is a tightly sealed acoustic design that allows for a high level of sound isolation and therefore aides in the reproduction of both powerful bass, as well as, extending the low-end response.

They are also very comfortable to wear, with the hybrid silicone earbuds providing long-lasting comfort and are designed to reduce ambient noise. 5 RHA T20 IEMs (Gen. 2): DualCoil HiFi Noise Isolating Stainless Steel in-Ear Headphones With Tuning Filters

Here’s another set of more reasonably priced earbuds, the T20’s from RHA.

These are high-resolution audio earbuds with moldable over-ear hooks which provide lasting comfort. The DualCoil dynamic driver has two independent voice coils, each one responsible for producing a part of the frequency range. This results in refined, high-resolution audio.

You can even customize your sound further by using the bass, treble and reference tuning filters. Simply switch to hear more bass if you’re enjoying some hip hop or EDM, or go for the treble option if you want more clarity from your favorite classical pieces.

The T20’s sound very clear and fairly neutral. When played at moderate volumes the sound produced is impressive and has astonishing detail. However, at higher volumes, the detail begins to get brittle, and the low-mids and bass end turns muddy.

But, that said, if you normally listen to your favorite tunes at well below hearing damage levels, then these earbuds will reward you with crystal clear detail.

The T20’s are covered by RHA’s three-year warranty and are also backed by the company’s 5-star customer service team.

The T20 comes with a number of premium accessories including a selection of ear tips – which include Comply foam and silicone – a carry case, stainless steel tip holder and a clip to attach the cable to your clothes.

6 Sennheiser IE 800 Audiophile Ear Canal Headphones

Back up in price to one the more expensive earbuds in this review, we have the IE 800 from Sennheiser.

These innovative earbuds feature a newly developed XWB (extra wide band) 7 mm transducer, which is currently the smallest XWB sound transducer available in any dynamic ear canal phones.

The transducer delivers a very dynamic, high output, distortion-free performance from inside the IE 800’s ceramic housing, which features dampened two chamber absorbers.

Designed, developed and produced in Sennheisers German facility, these earbuds are packed with innovative technology, as well as, having an attractive, modern and elegant design.

They also feature one of the widest frequency responses of any of the earbuds in this review, going from a staggering 8 Hz to 41 kHz. Which is far outside that of normal human hearing, so, if an instrument is anywhere in the mix, you will hear it, as long as your hearing allows you to.

They are manufactured from the finest materials, such as using scratch-resistant ceramic for the housing, which ensures longevity.

We’re sure, that like most people you’re wondering if paying nearly a thousand dollars for a pair of earbuds is good value? But, if listening to music in the highest possible fidelity is important to you and you can afford it, you’ll be glad you choose the IE 800’s.

8 Westone – Old Model – W50 Five Driver Universal Fit Noise Isolating Earphones

Next up, we have some mid-range earbuds from Westone, the W50’s. These are actually the older versions of the W40’s we’ve just reviewed, but are still widely available. Due to them being the older model, there are many similarities of features with the current W40. So, apologies if we repeat ourselves slightly.

They feature a five driver system which has an unrivaled sound signature and is tuned by artists. Featuring a powerful low-frequency driver, as well as, dual mid and high-frequency drivers, the sound produced is smooth and balanced across all frequencies.

With over 50 years worth of experience with in-ear applications, Westone has created a low-profile, lightweight earpiece that offers maximum comfort. This is thanks to its True-Fit technology which gives excellent in-ear coupling for the dynamic transfer of sound.

The W-50 also provides a good solution to the common problem of broken cables on expensive earbuds. They feature a replaceable cable connection and are supplied with the braided Epic cable and a round MFI cable with a 3-button control and mic. The Apple control system plus microphone allows you to easily adjust the volume, select tracks, answer your smartphone, as well as, having full Siri integration.

9 SONY XBA-N3AP Stereo In-ear Headphones

Another pair of earbuds from Sony, but these are quite a bit more expensive than the first set we reviewed. That said, they are still far cheaper than the Sennheiser and the pair of Westone’s we’ve just covered.

These excellent in-ear headphones from Sony, feature a newly designed HD Hybrid Driver system which packs a wealth of fine detail into a very small package. They allow you to enjoy studio-quality sound which is at an even higher quality than when listening to a CD.

The earbuds dynamic driver has an LCP diaphragm which gives rich bass and smooth mids. These, along with the airtight Balanced Armature driver which produces soaring highs, provides a well balanced and very musical sound. The extended open enclosure design, which allows enhanced airflow, improves the soundstage producing a richer, more natural sound.

If you thought the Sennheiser IE 800 offered a staggering frequency range, then unbelievably, these cheaper Sony’s go even lower down to 3 Hz, but the top end range is a little shy of the 41 kHz of the IE 800, at 40 kHz.

They produce a very clear sound, with deep, punchy bass, and good isolation. The tips supplied provide a good fit, the foam coated ones are the most comfortable and stay in your ears easily, but the rubber tips offer louder and clearer bass. They also have a massive soundstage, far bigger than expected considering the price.

Paired with a smartphone, they sound amazing and easily compete sonically with earbuds costing two to three times the price.

Our rating:4.9 out of 5 stars (4.9 / 5)

Pros
  • Superb sounding earbuds, especially considering the very reasonable price.
  • Massive frequency range.
  • Detachable, easily replaceable cord.
Cons
  • There have been some compatibility issues noted when used with the iPhone X. But these will probably be solved with upcoming software updates.

These custom-designed in-ear headphones feature a powerful sound, a sturdy exterior, and a very comfortable fit. And, as with all B&O headphones are created to provide the ideal listening experience.

Each earbud is crafted from a solid block of aluminum, which makes them ultra-light and provides superb sound performance. This gives them a dynamic full tone to reproduce the original sound material as authentically as possible.

They do a great job at noise canceling and they do sound very good, especially when you consider how affordable they are. They offer very good bass without being over the top, with solid mids and nice high-end end frequencies.

There is one negative though, in that they are specially designed to be used with the iPhone, so any Android users will have very limited functionality with these earbuds.

Best Bass Earbud Buyers Guide

Everything you’ve ever wanted to know about eartips…

Regardless of which pair of earbuds you choose, you will need to make sure that you try all the eartips that come with your purchase. One, more than the others, will be the correct fit and comfort for you.

If the eartip you choose is too small, it won’t create a complete seal inside your ear canal and you will lose low end frequencies. Make sure that you always choose the largest tip that still feels comfortable.

Our bodies are not built in exactly the same way, and that also applies to our ear canals, which may be of slightly different sizes. So, you may even need to use a different tip for each ear.

You also need to make sure that the right earpiece is always worn in the right ear and that the left earpiece is always in the left ear. The majority of earpieces are marked, to make sure that you wear them correctly to get the best quality of sound from them.

So, What’s The Best Bass Earbud For You?

We’ve gathered together the 10 best bass earbuds currently available on the market. They are all excellent choices and which one is best for you, will mainly depend on your budget.

Regarding features, they all obviously do the same thing, i.e., deliver sound to your ears. The difference between them is the quality of that sound, with the more expensive pairs offering the best sound quality.

Interestingly, durability doesn’t appear to be connected to price, in the same way as sound quality. And is more down to how you treat your earbuds. If you treat an expensive pair roughly, they will probably last just as long as a cheap pair. The only difference being that it’s worth replacing the cable on an expensive pair, while a cheap pair would just be binned.

Of course, as with any review, there has to be a winner, and that is the…

Sony XBA-N3AP

They won because they offer the best balance of sound quality to price. They don’t quite sound as good as some of the more expensive models featured, but they are very close. And, at a third of the price or less, they are easily the best sounding earbuds for the money in this review.

Honorable mentions also go to the Shure SE846-CL if money is not an issue and you want the best sounding earbuds you can get. And the Sony MDRXB50AP if you want budget earbuds which your happy to replace when they break. They both came in at the joint second place position.

Have fun choosing your perfect bass earbuds and enjoy listening to some great music when you get it!
