3 Audio-Technica System 10 ATW-1102 Wireless Handheld Microphone System

Designed for performing musicians and presenters, Audio-Technica’s System 10 provides a digital high-fidelity wireless system that is easy to set up and offers clear natural sound quality.

Advanced 24-bit operation and a frequency range of 2.4 GHz means that this wireless system is completely free from television and satellite interference. It also features instantaneous channel selection, sync, and set-up which allow you to connect the microphone and receiver for up-and-ready use in no time.

Eliminate background noise…

The Audio-Technica System 10 includes an ATW-R1100 receiver and an ATW-T1002 handheld unidirectional dynamic microphone with built-in transmitter. The microphone is a unidirectional dynamic design which helps to eliminate background noise.

Where the Audio-Technica System 10 really stands out is the use of a duplex transmission connection.

What does that mean?

Essentially the mic and the receiver communicate with each other. Signals go from the mic/transmitter to the receiver, and from the receiver to the mic/transmitter. This is different than most standard wireless microphone systems that use simplex transmission. Where the mic and transmitter send a one-way signal to the receiver.

With the System 10 data is being shared constantly. The duplex transmission connection provides for three levels of Diversity Assurance.

The three-level are Space, Time, and Frequency Diversity.

How do these work?

Space Diversity

This relates to the two antennas on the receiver that are spaced apart. The system receives two signals and compares them. With the ATW-T1002 handheld microphone/receiver there are actually two antennas within the transmitter as well. Space Diversity works to ensure solid and dependable radio frequencies.

Time Diversity

This is more complex because it relates to the digital nature of the System 10. In a digital signal, things happen in frames, based on time. A frame is an instance of time that divides into multiple subdivisions called slots.

The transmitter sends two signals separated by a very brief amount of time. The receiver captures the two signals in two different slots within the same frame and picks the best quality signal. This helps to eliminate distortion and feedback in the signal.

Frequency Diversity

This is by far one of the most advanced features found on any wireless microphone system. The receiver looks at the 2.4GHz spectrum and identifies two “clean” frequencies to use. It then also selects two “backup” frequencies. This allows the receiver to tell the transmitter which two frequencies it will be using.

The transmitter can now transmit on two frequencies at the same time. The receiver will receive both frequencies and determine the best one to use.

These three levels of Diversity Assurance work to keep the signal constant, clear, unaltered, balanced, and detailed.

The Audio-Technica System 10 is perfect for live on-stage performances. But, it also excels in presentation settings where there is a lot of potential for external inference such as a TV studio, sports events, and crowded press conferences.
